This type of headache typically has it’s origin from a structural source. The headaches arising from this region are also known as “Occipital Headaches” which according to many clinician’s, originate in the cervical region, especially if cervical traction decreases the headache pain. In anatomical terms this is known as the craniovertebral junction, which is a collective term referring to the atlas, axis, occiput, and surrounding ligaments and soft tissue. Tension headaches commonly relate to the sub-occipital region where the vertebrae of the neck, the cranium, and the surrounding tissues come together.

This is a very common problem seen by me and Francis in New York City. ^ Robert Tinder, “Using Design of Experiments to Optimize Chiral Separation,” Pharma QbD, September 2010.Physical Therapy/ Neuro-musculo-skeletal Perspective:.^ Jerry Fireman, “Learn the Two-Step,” Desktop Engineering, July 2011.^ Sara Black, “Cure for cratering: Gel coat perfected with design of experiments software,” CompositesWorld, February 2013.^ Albert Plant ,“Be Sure to Check the Residuals When Analyzing the Outcome of your Designed ExperimentsArchived at the Wayback Machine,” SQT blog, April 30, 2013.^ John Comley, “Design Of Experiments: useful statistical tool in assay development or vendor disconnect!”, Drug Discovery World, Winter 2009.

The optimization feature can be used to calculate the optimum operating parameters for a process. RSM provides an estimate for the value of responses for every possible combination of the factors by varying the values of all factors in parallel, making it possible to comprehend a multi-dimensional surface with non-linear shapes. A response surface model (RSM) can be used to map out a design space using a relatively small number of experiments. The software determines the main effects of each factor as well as the interactions between factors by varying the values of all factors in parallel. Design–Expert provides 11 graphs in addition to text output to analyze the residuals.

Based on the validated predictive models, a numerical optimizer helps the user determine the ideal values for each of the factors in the experiment. ANOVA is provided to establish statistical significance. A power calculator helps establish the number of test runs needed. Design–Expert offers test matrices for screening up to 50 factors.
